For the inspiration of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr, we give thanks! A Baptist minister & civil rights leader, Dr. Martin Luther King Jrled a life of inspiration that changed the lives of generations. The youngest person ever to receive the Nobel peace prize in 1964, he is still celebrated today by people of all ages, faiths & cultures.
Every man must decide whether he will walk in the light of creative altruism
or in the darkness of destructive selfishness. ~ Dr. Martin Luther King Jr
Dr. Martin Luther King Jr was one of the best public speakers of all time. His "I Have A Dream" speech brought the spotlight to civil rights & his causes of ending racial segregation & discrimination. The speech is still played and quoted as his dream continues to unfold & live on. Martin was born Michael but his name was changed to Martin. He followed in the footsteps of his father & grandfather as ministers and graduates from Morehouse College. He furthered his studies to receive a doctrate degree. He married Coretta Scott and they had 2 sons & 2 daughters. Dr. King was just 35 when he won the Nobel Peace Prize in 1964 & he donated the prize money, over $54, 000 to furthering the Civil Rights Movement. Dr. King led marches & movements for change always with nonviolence & spiritually based acceptance.
Sadly, he was assassinated on April 4, 1968.
At the center of non-violence stands the principle of love.
~Dr. Martin Luther King Jr
A nation that continues year after year to spend more money on military defense
than on programs of social uplift is approaching spiritual doom. ~ Dr. Martin Luther King Jr
Everything that we see is a shadow cast by that which we do not see. ~ Dr. Martin Luther King Jr
